Ted’s IGA Announces Sale After More Than 50 Years Serving the Hebron Community
Hebron, CT - Tuesday, November 25, 2025 - Ted’s IGA, a family-owned grocery store and
long-standing community institution, has announced that it will be transitioning to new ownership
after more than five decades serving Hebron and surrounding towns. The store, founded in
1973, has been operated by the Armata family for generations.
“As we prepare to retire, we reflect with immense gratitude on what this store has meant to our
family and our town,” said Todge Armata, President of Ted’s IGA. “Ted’s has been part of
Hebron’s daily life for over 50 years, and the relationships we’ve built with our customers, local
partners, and vendors are something we value greatly. It has truly been an honor.”
Todge and his brother, David Armata, who have jointly led the business for decades, will both
retire as part of this transition.
Ted’s IGA has long been known for strong partnerships with local farmers and Connecticut
vendors, as well as deep involvement with schools, nonprofits, and community initiatives.
Providing quality products, exceptional service, a welcoming neighborhood atmosphere, and
generations of loyal customers who helped shape the store’s identity - making Ted’s their
Hometown Store.
The Armata family emphasized that current Ted’s IGA employees will remain in their positions
through the transition, and the store will continue operating normally while plans are finalized.
“Our team has always been the heart of Ted’s,” David Armata said. “Many of our employees
have been with us for years, even decades. We’re grateful for their loyalty and dedication
throughout the years.”
Final operating dates and additional transition details will be shared as they become available.
The sale is anticipated before the end of the year.
“Thank you to the Hebron community for more than 50 years of trust, friendship, and support,”
said Todge Armata. “Serving this town has been one of our greatest privileges.”
